More About Us
Piet Steenkamp is the 4th generation winemaker and farmer on Groenland, a family wine farm in the beautiful Bottelary district, just outside Stellenbosch. Groenland has been producing quality red- and white wines for the past 90 years.
Their latest addition under their flagship range, the Steenkamp Ou Bosstok Steen 2022, has just been released. The grapes were handpicked from the bush vine block planted on the slopes of Groenland back in 1981. Production is between 3.5 & 4 tons per hectare.
The ever popular “Landskap” (meaning Landscape) range, is a combination of scenic slopes and the passion of the Steenkamp family, that shaped these memorable wines. The Windmill on Groenland is a rare sight in Stellenbosch and reflects the love that Piet Steenkamp’s father, Kosie, had for nature and his Karoo heritage.
Groenland has achieved its status as a producer of distinguished red and white wines with a combination of continuous research and development and the dedication and dynamic co-operation of everyone involved with the estate.
The farm consists of 190 hectares, of which 150 hectares are under vine. We produce approximately 80% red and 20% white cultivars. The vineyards deliver more than 1500 tons of grapes every year.
